Backend Engineer

Engineering

Lagos / Remote (Africa) Full-time Mid to Senior

Build the engine that powers Kuvra. You'll work on our Node.js + Sequelize API, design data models for new Suites (Banking sync, WhatsApp Cloud API, payroll), and ship features that thousands of African businesses depend on every day.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and ship REST APIs in Node.js + Express + Sequelize
  • Model new domains (Solutions, Subscriptions, Banking, Payroll)
  • Integrate with payment gateways (Flutterwave) and open banking (Mono/Okra)
  • Write tests, monitor production, fix bugs quickly
  • Pair with frontend/mobile engineers and product on tradeoffs

We're looking for

  • 3+ years building production backends in Node.js / TypeScript
  • Comfortable with PostgreSQL, schema design, and SQL performance
  • Have shipped at least one payment / fintech integration
  • Care about API ergonomics, error handling, and observability
  • Excited about building for African SMBs - not just FAANG-style scale

Frontend Engineer

Own how Kuvra looks and feels. You'll work in Next.js 14 + Tailwind across the marketing site and the in-app dashboard, ship pixel-perfect interfaces, and partner with design to make Kuvra a delight to use on every device.

What you'll do

  • Build & maintain Next.js apps (marketing site + dashboard)
  • Translate Figma designs to responsive, accessible React components
  • Optimize for Core Web Vitals - Kuvra runs on patchy networks
  • Help shape our design system & component library
  • Pair with backend engineers on data contracts

We're looking for

  • 3+ years of production React / Next.js experience
  • Strong TypeScript fundamentals; comfortable with App Router
  • Eye for visual detail + obsessive about UX micro-interactions
  • Tailwind CSS power user (or willing to be one)
  • Bonus: React Native experience for cross-platform work

Lagos (Hybrid) Full-time Mid to Senior

Be the human face of Kuvra to Nigerian SMBs. Run discovery calls, demo our six Suites, close deals, and help us grow from early traction to category leader. If you can sell to founders and finance teams in Africa, we want to talk.

What you'll do

  • Own a pipeline of inbound and outbound SMB & mid-market leads
  • Run product demos that highlight the right Suite for each prospect
  • Close subscriptions, manage CRM hygiene, hit revenue targets
  • Feed insights from sales calls back to product & marketing
  • Build relationships with partners (accountants, business associations)

We're looking for

  • 3+ years of SaaS or B2B sales in Africa (fintech a plus)
  • Strong consultative selling - you ask before you pitch
  • Comfortable with quota-carrying roles
  • Network of SMBs / accounting firms in Nigeria (or willing to build one)
  • Excellent written and spoken English; local language a plus
